Gaumont Television Europe Anounces Second Euro Drama
Cannes- MIPTV 2015: Gaumont Television Europe announced plans Tuesday March 14 to co-produce 1001, a 12xone hour English language modern day thriller.
Created by Lars Lundstrom (Real Humans), 1001 will be produced by Gaumont Television Europe and Matador Film, along with co-production partner EyeWorks Scandi Fiction. Gaumont Television Europe is a division of the 120-year-old Gaumont, the oldest motion picture studio in the world. 1001 comes on the heels of the company's announcement last October of its first Euro drama, Spy City, a UK-French spy story set in Berlin after WWII, with showrunner William Boyd on board.
Vice CEO of Gaumont Christophe Riandee called Europe "a new frontier for television." Elizabeth Dreyer, head of international co-productions for Gaumont Television Europe, added, “1001 is emblematic of the way we see international co-productions in that we are working with proven talent in Europe to bring their storytelling to audiences worldwide.”
