Spielberg Announces Napoleon TV Miniseries

DIRECTOR Steven Spielberg has announced he will turn the late Stanley Kubrick’s unfinished screenplay about the life of Napoleon into a TV mini-series.

Kubrick originally intended the screenplay to be for a movie but Spielberg, who will head up the 2013 Cannes Film jury, told Canal Plus in an interview he’d been in touch with the Kubrick family and developing the screenplay as a mini-series.  It is Spielberg's second foray into the world of mini-series; in 2010, he produced the 10-part World War II drama Band Of Brothers.

Kubrick's plans in the early 1970s for the epic film on the life of Napoleon fell through when he failed to secure studio funding for the project. He died in 1999.
