Tennison on Front Burner for La Plante Global
UK CRIME writer Lynda La Plante has launched La Plante Global, a new company that will control all the author's future TV, film and book deals.
One of its first moves is to announce a TV adaptation of La Plante's new novel Tennison, a prequel to Prime Suspect set to premiere in 2016, the 25th anniversary of the hit ITV drama starring Helen Mirren as Detective Chief Inspector Jane Tennison. The new novel explores the early years of the character Jane Tennison.
La Plante has not identified a broadcaster but the adaptation is likely to be in heavy demand. ITV 's Prime Suspect ran for seven series from 1991 to 2006 and was subsequently adapted for the US. La Plante's TV works span 30 years, beginning with Widows in 1983. In addition to Prime Suspect, it also includes British TV series Above Suspicion, featuring Kelly Reilly as DC Anna Travis.
