UK Six Pic Slate Wins Funding

THE Observer is reporting that independent producer Miriam Segal has won funding for a six picture slate budgeted at $155 million (£96 million). Segal's track record includes award-winning Love Is The Devil and Good.

Investors have reportedly been offered all six films, spreading the risk beyond a single film, and are also being offered unprecedented transparency. The UK tax authority has recently been investigating film schemes that exploit loopholes but Segal’s tax model has already received preliminary approval by the tax authorities for proper use of The Enterprise Investment Scheme, which is designed to help higher risk businesses raise funds. The model eliminates brokers and uses the same sales agent, bank and equity source for all six films.
