Amazon Ups Ante With Hunger Games
AMAZON.com has inked a multi-year deal with pay TV channel Epix to add films such as The Hunger Games to its roster of movies available through Amazon Prime Instant Video.
The deal includes films from Epix studio partners Lions Gate Entertainment, Metro-Goldwyn Mayer Pictures and Paramount Pictures.
The pact ups the stakes in Amazon’s efforts to compete with Apple’s iPad and Netflix in the online movie market. Ad Age Media News reports it comes at a time when Amazon, the world’s largest online retailer, is expected to unveil its newest version of its Kindle Fire tablet.
