Chinatown's Towne Onboard As Mad Men Scribe

CHINATOWN Oscar winner Robert Towne has come onboard the writing staff of Mad Men.

The veteran screenwriter,  who picking up an original screenplay Oscar for Chinatown, has been serving as a consulting producer for the multiple Emmy and Golden Globe-winning Lionsgate/AMC drama series.

His more recent credits include Mission Impossible, Without Limits and Days Of Thunder but the acclaimed screenwriter has also racked up  three Oscar noms for The Last Detail (1973), Shampoo (1975) and Greystoke: The Legend Of Tarzan, Lord Of The Apes (1984) and gone down in film history for a pack of one liners, including “Forget it, Jake. It’s Chinatown.”

AMC has announced there will be two seven episode batches of Mad Men, one in early 2014 and another in early 2015.
