Entwistle Signals Radical BBC Shake-up
NEW BBC director general George Entwistle has signalled a radical shake-up of the BBC structure put in place by predecessor Mark Thompson six years ago, The Guardian reports.
Entwhistle told staff that the restructure was aimed at raising the creative bar and the output of digital content. All BBC radio services, BBC Vision and Future Media will be affected. "To be ready to create and curate genuinely digital content, we will need to integrate all three disciplines ... We need to be ready to produce and create genuinely digital content for the first time," he reportedly told staff.
A cost cutting plan will touch not only on top management but also front line filmmakers, he added.
