Women Scribes/Helmers In Emmy Noms Shortfall

WOMEN will come up short once again on the Emmys playing field if nominations for drama series scribe and directing categories are any barometer. Not one woman has been nominated in the drama series directing race and Moira Walley-Beckett is the only woman who made the cut in writing, Variety's Cynthia Littleton points out.

It's no big surprise. While more than half of the US TV audiences and well more than half of the US population are women, the latest Directors Guild of America reports indicate that women helmers account for only about 14% of all episodic TV work.  What's it all about?  Read more:
